Are humans perfectly suited for discovery because god set it up that way or have we discovered so much because we happened to be suited to discover and be in the right location to do lots of discovering? It's a "chicken or the egg" kinda question and proves nothing.

Only those fortunate enough to be the beneficiaries of large acts of random chance will ever be able to marvel at the complete improbability of those acts of random chance.

In a universe as vast as the one we live in, with the multiverse a real possibility, and then possibly a metaverse on top of that (or not in all cases) the fact is, were we to exist just as an action of random chance, and there was nothing more, then by definition we would marvel at the random chance in effect.

If I win the lottery, I could marvel at the ridiculous odds of that happening. That doesn't mean it was anything other than random chance, however unlikely it was to happen, just as the winner, only I can marvel at that random chance. It doesn't denote the need for a God because I was the winner.

A billion universes could occur without life forming in them, and simply put no one would know, lol. We sit in ours, existing, marveling at the random chance innate to it, and the infathomable nature of that chance of occuring simply because we exist and thus can. Nothing about how long the odds are, given how vast the universe is makes a God a requirement.

Look at it this way, every time a guy ejaculates, its made up of hundreds of millions of sperm, each one containing a slightly different genetic code caused by meiosis cell division. One of them reaches the egg. You've already beaten odds of hundreds of millions to one by just being born you. As a result of that, you can marvel at the probability of you being born exactly as you are, against the odds of you not being born as you are. That doesn't mean its divine providence, it just means it was long odds, and you're around to appreciate them.

As a genuine agnostic, none of what I'm saying precludes the existance of a God, however, it doesn't require one either.

Except the chicken and egg question isn't even a question. Eggs came way before chickens did.

Well posted, Spank! Actually, given a countable number of known molecular interactions and "laws" including gravity (we don't begin to yet define or understand it, not even Einstein or Hawking), the results are in essence predictable. Molecules wander by each other in random chaotic movement (all observable in nature and the lab) but then, according to those rules, they coalesce and form up into stable configurations. Like DNA. If the configuarion is not stable, why then, it won't stick around, right?

Accordingly, over the huge time those molecules, including our own, had to try all sorts of optional configurations out, you get to see what we can all see, some of which are temporarily stable, some trying new things out, some failing. If this were all some vast ID project, which Christians tell us is marvelously perfect, why then are so many aspects of it not perfect or stable? Why the observable super-novas and planetary crashes and meteorite impacts? Or new galaxies forming out there? Wasn't it all supposed to be "finished" during Creation?

Can we eventually fully understand it? Not by a long shot, but does it necessarily default to some massive but improbable intelligence? No.

RANDOM CHANCE??? BIG BANG?? THE FACTS OF HOW WE ARE PLACED LOOKS DELIBERATE...
Remember, what the narrator cites are only the perspectives of one writer. It's also possible to look at these suggestions 180˚ in reverse, that is: we see such commonality in the universe, or will when we get out there far enough, precisely because it's the normal, logical, stable form that the limited numbers of elements can assume (how many are there now that are inherently stable and don't just exist briefly in some linear accelerator's "leavings"? 112 elements give or take? Not such a large assortment).

Alternately, some Godly figure rammed them together in forms they really don't want to be in, but are held there by His hand in some massive, impossible Universal Control Room. Yep, that version's likely....

Versus the option that those same elements form up for reasons and interactions we are beginning to understand quite well. Give us another 20 or 30 years at it (heck; why not in just the next 5?), after the Large Hadron Collider and other such tools are fully operational. You might be quite surprised at what truths we uncover. Quite Godless truths, in my opinion.
