Mark 13:26 “At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.28 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 29 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it[d] is near, right at the door. 30 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
Jesus spoke of great calamity that was to come, as well as his own glorious return. He also said that these events would occur within the lifetime of those he spoke to.
But it didn't happen. It didn't happen. Christian, how do you deal with this?
Sometime I wonder if the second coming is when He returns to each individual when they die. So the destruction described in Revelation would be allegorical for the end of the individual’s life. Just speculation.

Depends entirely on how you define "this generation."
Also, most theologians & scholars agree that verses 29-30 are speaking of Rome invading Jerusalem, circa AD 70.

RESPONSE:
Or another question, what does this tell you about the inspiration and inerrancy of scripture.
Depends entirely on how you define "this generation."
Also, most theologians & scholars agree that verses 29-30 are speaking of Rome invading Jerusalem, circa AD 70.
RESPONSE:
Obviously, "This generation" refers to Jesus' generation. Note the word "This."
Or as Matthew says in his 16:27-28:
27 ‘For the Son of Man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay everyone for what has been done. 28Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.’ (NRSV)
And as Paul wrote in 1 Thes 4:15-17
15For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will by no means precede those who have died. 16For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call and with the sound of God’s trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord for ever. (NRSV)
None of this (angels, trumpet, descent from heaven, resurrection of the dead, etc.) occurred during Rome's invasion of Jerusalem in 70 A.D., so any "theologians and scholars" making such a claim are obviously wrong.
UHHHHH, cause he never existed in the first place?
RESPONSE:
The preponderance of the evidence is that Jesus did exist. But he wasn't a divine person, just one of several messiah candidates who existed at this time.
He believed himself to be an end-time prophet, e.g. "The kingdom of God is at hand."
But when he began to think that he was the messiah and word spread that he was, he was executed as an insurrectionist by the Romans.
Remember, the messiah was supposed to be a king of the Jews who would return the rule to Israel, and the Romans didn't tolerate that claim.
