The concept of 'sin' or evil works is one common to many religions. My basic understanding of 'sin' is that it is no so much a catalogue of rules, but rather manifestations of a fleshly, carnal attitude, one controlled by the blind forces of competition. I believe Nature IS in an innately fallen state; while I respect nature, I still think that God's original plan never included pain and death. Buddhism says that life is suffering. I definitely agree, Life is a house built on the foundation of death. The nests of the most innocent newborn are built on the bones of the victims.

So 'sin' is basically living as our nature dictates; it is not being especially evil, it is simply 'missing' the mark. Overcoming sin is a process of seeing 'beyond', as if looking out of the canyon of darkness that surrounds us. This requires revelation from the Divine, a connection with God or the ultimate cosmic principle.

So people shouldn't fuss so much about whether this or that is a sin, but just have a good heart, trying to overcome those base impulses (anger, greed, ego, pride, vengeance) to rise to a higher state. A state where one can forgive, love all and be at peace. People in this ignorant state are seldom angelic, so it's your job to rise above. It will benefit others and also your soul.
