Is it annoying when someone of your own faith tries to "preach" to you? Am I the only one that feels this way? I'm by no means an angel but I really don't feel the need to be "preached" to.

On top of that.. why is it when someone preaches to you they spout off scriptures "i.e. Romans 1:3-4 says blah blah blah"..

guess what.. if you felt the need to preach to me do you think I would know what the scriptures said? No.. so why quote them? It rings hollow to me.

Sorry for the vent.

As long as they are sincere I don't mind people preachin'.
I often have been accused of preachin' myself because I have my own opinions and am not afraid to use them. Or defend my own opinion.

When I quote I use them as a Zen koans so people can reflect on my opinion and the quote I've used.
I don't quote often, because it is my opinion that people who quote often only do so to appear knowledgeable.

Quoting is easy, truly understanding whatever it is you're quoting is not.

Try googling.
It's kinda hard to explain. They're like illogical riddles.

I agree with you on that. I do get weary of people who show how clever and spiritual they are by quoting chapter and verse at me. And yes to answer the OP I do find it annoying when someone of my own faith preaches at me and sets themselves up as more worthy than others. It feels like unrighteous pride to me.

I don't mind when this happens.
This way I can seperate the good from the bad. Pride often comes right before the fall.

I don't like people in my face quoting scripture then adding, "What this really means is" I hear it so much that I just inconspiciously remove my hearing aids, shake my head and smile nicely There is a blessing in ones affliction if he looks for it

It's annoying when people preach to you period.
They may have some type of low self esteem and quoting scriptures and preaching to you shows them how smart they are?? I really don't know why people do this.

Default Preaching

Jesus foretold for our day this work: "The good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth, for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come." he also instructed his followers: "Go...make deciples of all the nations." Matt, 24:14: 28:19.
