I thought you might be interested in this.

World's oldest wall painting unearthed in Syria - Science - MSNBC.com (broken link)

So that rock is at least as old as the picture. 11,000 plus 2007 = about 13,000 years more or less.

That's what they appear to believe, anyway, isn't it?

Does it take faith to believe?

Well they said pretty plainly they carbon dated it to 9,000 B.C. Certainly is an interesting find.. wonder what the rectangles mean.

I was also wondering what the rectangles mean. It seems that most wall paintings, (at least the ones I've seen pictures of), are of people or animals, maybe some kind of event, such as a hunt. I don't think I've seen rectangles before. It'll be interesting to see if they can figure that out.

What if the rectangles represented something far larger than the rectangle itself..

Well, duh, it's just a high concentration of fresh water that stained the rock after the flood! Sorry I couldn't resist.

Ok, I'll be the first to ask:

What does this have to do with Religion or Philosophy?

Eufo.....you haven't been following the threads about When did God create the earth, have you!!! The Young Earth Creationists would have the earth only about 8-10 thousand years old because the bible is 100% correct.

If there is good evidence that this picture is really that old and since it is painted on a rock the implication is that maybe God did take longer that 6 days. Maybe even millions of years.

Maybe you should've mentioned that in your post. Either way, it proves nothing. Those who choose not to believe carbon dating will not believe this anyway. Kind of fruitless to post it, imo.

Naturally, eufo, you are always welcome to express your opinion. I will certainly try to do better in the future. Sometimes, it's far to easy to assume that the reader will get that a post has a little edge of sarcasm in it. I tend to do it often and this isn't the first time that someone has called me on it.

Thank you
