I paraphrased a Bible verse. I thought it spoke for itself, and was a witty comeback to the noinsensical post that I responded to.

We think of lots of things that are nonsensical and aren't grounded in reality. Sorta like gods and tooth fairies, afterlife's, etc. Rage against that good night, Vizio! Rage!

I wasn't the one who referred to the other as a fool(even though that was just you paraphrasing the bible, right? wink wink). Yeah, i'm just your typical atheist. One thing, though. Will the rest of nature be there in your afterlife(Heaven) or will it just be inhabited by you(and the other "true" believers), Jesus and his father God?

I can point you to the two best books ever put into print describing the hells. Actually they make for good reading, even if you don't actually "believe". These are the stories of the guys who were there.

A Wanderer in the Spirit Lands by Franchezzo, transcribed by A. Farnese.

and

Gone West: Three Narratives of After Death Experiences by J.S.M.Ward

both can be found here.

But I somehow don't think you will go and read those. Both have free pdfs.

Yes the word "atonement" is curious. But to give you a real example, a Playboy Bunny Girl will find herself helping men with porn issues get themselves off the addiction. A pastor who spent his life teaching untruth, will spend even longer trying, desperately, across the veil trying to set the record straight. The late Jerry Falwell is such an example.

I think it's egocentric if taken to far. For example, if one believes heaven is his destiny, then he can do anything without worry of consequences. Looking at it from the other way, if one believes he is destined for hell, then he'll do nothing to change his destiny.

I think it is healthy to believe that good actions lead to rewards. Many believe the rewards come in an afterlife; I believe the rewards come in one's lifetime. Many think both ways.

Curious how many people believe that its black or white, when nothing is black or white in this life.

The grey is very hard to wrap your head around. Simplicity is bliss. :-)

I can tell you there is a place called Hell,California. You can say, "I don't believe you"....but I can purchase you a ticket to go and see it for yourself. I'm using tools that are concrete(not abstract) to show you that such a place exist. If I tell you that there is a place located in an afterlife called Hell....and you say, "show me"...and I then give you a book about some guy that went there, so you'll have to take his word for it, and that I really can't show you any other evidence than that book....well, I wouldn't be too surprised when you told me, "sure I believe you".

It is interesting to read unregenerated men poke fun at something they have no connection .
If I tried to discribe the process of making a stent for the heart ,you likely would fall asleep with anticipation.
UNLESS YOU NEEDED ONE.
But you don't know that ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,yet .
People that are honestly seeking after God , he leads to His son Jesus. and Jesus directs them back to the Father.
It would be more egocentric to remain alien to God, rather than to serve Him .
This was Aam's failure.
Satan's lie ,that he would be like God knowing good and evil .
He would know good and evil, but not be like God at all.
Jesus demonstrated by His life, and death, the obedience God expects of man .
Not selfish ego but humility and subserviance with the power to excersize one's own will .
If one cannot be trusted here and now ,eternity is a far more serious issue, to compromise with rebellious behavior.
Satan was kicked out of heaven for rebellion.
People that are not genuinely devoted to Jesus and obedient, God will not allow in heaven . Matthew 7;21,22,23, the obedience is to God personally, not to men .
This obedience can only come from knowing His voice via the Holy Spirit Jesus provides Himself.
One can't fake it or bluff God or fool any one but them self with scriptural intellect .
Seeking God with your whole heart and realize it is your rebellion that offends God .
Ask His forgiveness and repent of that rebellion, turn against it.
Ask jesus christ to come into your heart and make Him Lord in your life . seek out those things Jesus taught, no one else. Pray for His help to understand those theing you have questions . Open your heart an mind to Him daily for examination and corection and NEED His guidance . not just want it , NEED IT.
Jesus said , blessed are they that do hnger and thirst after righteousness ,for they shall be filled. the hungering and thirsting is to be insrtructed of God and in fallowing His instruction that is where righteousness is.
Not in self generated noble deeds .
You know in your heart those things that offend God, no one needs to preach that to you, the more you love God and need Him ,the better he can instruct you , Vise versa as well .
Learning to be obedient preps one for heven . Not learning to be obedient ,one remains on their original destination.
There is more I would tell you but many things God must teach you not men .
