Paganism, Prophecies, and Propaganda | Catholic Answers

I see some on here have fallen for the false teachings that the Catholic Church is Pagan. I found a good article disproving that.

Sure the spirit of antichrist has been busy knocking down the Catholic belief system , and this knocking down is very much NOT from the spirit of Christ as Lord Jesus collects thousands of people who are Catholic and brings them into heaven every year ...............I remember turning to Lord Jesus Christ and was converted to Christianity and there was a logical spiritual challenge to divide against the Catholic faith ,............. and I was never exposed to the Catholic belief system so this challenge was a demonic spirit of divisions ,................... so I resisted this demonic force through the power of blood of Jesus and blessing the belief , ..............where now I go to a church which is Pentecostal and have No challenge with these demons of divisions against the Catholic faith system

Dear jan,
The Roman church does not consider itself pagan, nor even does the Protestant church consider her pagan. It is just that they both follow pagan traditions. A good example of what is going to happen to the "carved images" used by the Catholic Church is in Micah 5:13-15, whereas God will "cut off your carved images.. So that you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands. I will root out your Asherim (Queen of heaven) from among you and destroy your cities. And I will execute vengeance in anger and wrath On the nations which have not obeyed." The queen of heaven would refer to the Catholic Church's "mother of God", who is supposedly in heaven according to their traditions. As for not obeying, the church has changed the Commandments, whereas the term "graven image" was pulled from the Commandments, and then bowing down and kneeling before and praying to "graven images" became the norm.

If you are married I pray to God you and your wife don't wear rings; that is also a pagan custom.

Catholics are not pagan. God knows this!

What is really sad is the evil in the heart of those that are anti-Catholic. And God knows their heart.

From your link to disprove the Roman church is pagan.

Quote:
Did you know that Catholic bishops are actually high priests of Dagon, the ancient fish deity of the Philistines? You see, the miter the bishop wears is a replica of the costumes worn by the priests of Dagon. That’s right, the priests of Dagon wore a head dress that looked like the head of a fish with an open mouth, and down their back they wore a long cape that looked like the skin of a big fish. When you look at a Catholic bishop sideways you can see the open-mouthed fish head, and his cope looks just like that fish skin they wore! This proves that Catholicism is really just old-fashioned devil-worshipping paganism,
Good to see the truth!

No, actually I think what Christians are concerned about from the Roman church is it's use of pagan rites and rituals and claiming they are now Christian rites and rituals. They are not needed nor or they of God so why waste your time doing useless rites and rituals rather then what God has told you to do? I think that is a fair question. Christians do not recognize that one church has authority over another church and no single church or man has the authority to change the things of God.

The Catholic Church says the same thing all 30,000+ Protestant sects says: if you don't belong to our faith you are destined for torment in the fires of hell for all eternity. Naturally, no one wants to burn in fiery torment forever so it has become a very effective tool for getting people to convert and obey the clergy. Nuts like Mack Slick of CARM get off using this to make people quake, which is why he and most fundie leaders are staunch eternal tormenter propagators--they love the feeling of power that surges through them when they tell a group of people "Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior OR ELSE! (you will burn in hell for all eternity)"

Where's the love of God or His concern for your happiness and welfare in all this? It's like someone putting a gun to your head and saying, "Now I want you to make a wise choice and I'll pull the trigger if you choose unwisely."

Exactly why free will in all this is a complete illusion, whether you're Calvinist or Arminian.

Maybe Catholics should accept such a likening as a compliment. Paganism is an umbrella term encompassing Earth's oldest religions/belief systems.

I challenge you to prove our claim. Prove there are 30,000 sects that are Prostant and prove they all say "if you don't belong to our faith you are destined for torment in the fires of hell for all eternity."

If you live a vacuum with no traditions it must be quite boring. I enjoy the rituals, statues, ceremonies, bowing, genuflecting, the Latin language, the crucifix, etc. When I walk into a Catholic church I know I am in a church.

Ultimately, it is a matter of taste. I
