Show me a society......... that adopted the teaching of lucricious, einstein. Spinoza, Jefferson and so forth, implementing a democracy of the people, with free speech and a free press........ that descended into war and starvation and lunacy and death. There isnt one, so save yourself the effort.

As Sam Harris once said.... there is not a society in history that ever suffered because its people became too reasonable.
These leaders were not Christians.

Yes, the Iran-Iraq war was a Muslim war. Once Iran became an Islamic state, instigators inside of Iraq began stirring up trouble - including assassinating one of Saddam's top men.

Essentially it had to do with instigators, spurred on by Iran and Khomeini, to turn Iraq into an Islamic state, so Saddam went to war.

Plenty of bloodshed by non-Christians:

Joseph Stalin - 42,672,000
Mao Zedong - 37,828,000
Adolf Hitler - 20,946,000
Chiang Kai-shek - 10,214,000
Vladimir Lenin - 4,017,000
Hideki Tojo - 3,990,000
Pol Pot - 2,397,0003
Justifying religious wars by denouncing non-Christian bloodshed is a bit like saying, "Why bother curing cancer when there are so many other diseases to cure."

How many Muslims did Christians kill solely because they were of the Muslim faith ?

How many US universities have Christians entered and spared the life of Christians while gunning down Muslims?

How many United States Muslims were marched out to the sea and be-headed solely because they were Muslim?

Thanks to our resident historian for that :-) I figured it probably was primarily or at least ultimately a religiously motivated war, but hate to make assumptions -- as you know what "they" say about assuming making an a__ out of people.
