I apologize for that. Sometimes correcting with edit turns into a duplicate post and I don't notice.

Ummm ... there is an assumption in there somewhere. That being that God exists in the first place.

The way I see it, mortals control and dictate how, when, where and why God can be accessed in all "true" religions.

All religions are human creations, imo.
This is my thinking.

I agree. There are man's laws and there are God's laws. In the Bible, God never forced anyone to obey Him. Why should man make laws forcing people to obey things in the Bible?

You'd think they would have a good chance of figuring out that they shouldn't be attempting to enforce God's will on others, though, if they believe their God is love and

Love is patient and kind.
Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.
It does not demand its own way.
It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.
It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

But the world's biggest as-yet-unidentified religion is the God-of-my-biases.

It shows up in every other religion. Its very popular of course.

Thank you! What God wants from us has to be voluntary, so why do these fundamentalists seek to ENFORCE what they think God wants from us??? It makes no sense whatsoever.

Perhaps, but we do our best to infer what makes the most sense.

Amen, Pleroo. It is a mystery why they seem to prefer following supposed rules set by primitive minds in primitive contexts rather than THINK about what Christ said and demonstrated unambiguously. I guess thinking is not a fundamentalist forte. Some atheists seem to have difficulty with it as well.

It seems to me a case of "Clean your own house up - before you call someone else's dirty"

There is no shortage of followers of religions calling other religions "wrong" or "false" - but there is a terrible shortage of any of them showing their own one is true. Especially while suggesting that it is other people who have no forte for thinking.

When we see lines like "What God wants from us has to be voluntary" - that is just assumption. It has not been supported by anything. These people are not even shown there is a god - yet they presume to know what it want's or that what someone else thinks it wants is false.

For all we know - if there is a god - it created us just to get off on watching the many ways we as a species hurt - torture - kill - and molest each other. Assumptions about the motives of such an entity are just that - assumptions - and mostly are based on what the speaker _wants_ to be true.

But - as I said - since these people can not back up a single claim they make - they instead deflect attention with "Look over there - THOSE people are so _wrong_"

Any religion that relies on something or someone other than Jesus Christ is counterfeit.
