What makes America great is that it is your option to be an ignorant atheist.

Jesus told this to people who were poor, uneducated, oppressed, suffered from all kinds of illnesses, had short lives and had very little hope. That's what most people were back in those days.

If we approach it in that context, then we might understand how it was not such a wrong message to give at the time.

It's talking about a person's walk in the feast days.

Matthew 24 begins with the knowledge that we are the temple, and when one sees and recognizes the abomination of desolation, he sees it within himself,'' Let the reader understand.''

''Let the reader understand,'' is Jesus pointing at Daniel and looking at you so that you know and realize that you are the temple and the abomination is within you, the lawless one is within you and it will be revealed in all people.

When somebody comes up to the day no man knows, this is an idiom of Rosh Hashanah, the day no man talks about because it is to be kept secret so that the enemy does not know what day it is, it is Yom Hakeseh, the hidden day that EVERY MAN KNOWS, well, every man who follows the feasts of God know when the day no man knows is lol.

When somebody has come up to Rosh Hashanah, they have completed the spring walk and they are about to move on to the fall season.

Jesus had just shown himself to be a temple and Matthew 24 has to be read like each individual is a Temple in itself and it is showing a person moving through their own temple days until they come up to the middle of their week when the sacrifices are cut off from their temple.

The whole thing is in parable form, it is not straight forward but is very esoteric.

to the regular folk ... this aint that hard.

"understanding", yes, that is coming.

The "sin" he is saving us from is "ignorance".
That just meaning we don't know yet, but we will.

Don't be fooled by the fundymental.
Evolution is life.

And this happened? For everybody? Before a generation passed away (following Jesus' death)?

Even metaphorically this came true? That during the specified time period (nobody ASKED Jesus to specify his 'generation,' he came up with that one on his own), everyone at least gained understanding (that's the metaphor part)?

As a metaphor, sure, people can come away from ignorance but even using it as a metaphor it still didn't come true as professed in the Gospel.

"That just mean(s) we don't know yet, but we will." Still not before 'this' (surrounding Jesus' death) generation passed away.

Unless 'generation' is a metaphor too?

Oh hell, let's just call it ALL a metaphor in order to force it to fit. That means too that Jesus saying he was The Way was also a metaphor and he just meant, any great teacher is the way. Ergo, Christianity is defunct. It's useless in and of itself. May as well sit on a mountain and meditate. (Which, obviously, we non-Christians do literally believe...that Christianity isn't necessary and may not even be useful...but it will certainly be news to Christians, eh? THAT'S going to be a surprise.)

Matthew 24:32 -35............``Now learn a parable of the fig tree, When his branches is yet tender, and puts forth leaves , you will know that summer is here....So likewise you , when you see all these things know that is near , even at the door ...Very truly I say to you This generation will not pass, till all these things fulfilled Heaven and earth will pass away , but my words will not pass away ``.................This is the only sign which Jesus gives for the end of the age were sin will be free in the earth ....... See Jesus is talking of sin as this is the parable of the fig tree , as it was fig leaves which Adam and Eve hid them themselves as they sin against God and knew that they were naked ..........So fig leaves represents sin ...... Then the generation that will not pass see Jesus killed and become the door of this parable , and become the redeemer of sin and Lord ...... Still Jesus will not come to save His church and then remove sin completely until the age of the gentiles is complete and the church is at complete risk of disappearing from the earth , so the church of Christ has got a long way to go before this can happen

Yup, and then there is that thing about the mustard seed being the smallest of all seeds. One would think an all knowing god, especially one that apparently created everything, would have just a bit of a clue WTH he was talking about. But nooooooo.... let's confuse everyone.

Esoteric is always good for selling, but not for educating.
