Religion attracts a large number of nutjobs and the grifters that take advantage of them. An election cycle is the perfect opportunity for the religious grifters to extort their followers and use the money to buy favors and legislation from politicians. In exchange the religious grifters tell their flocks who they need to vote for in order to maintain their good standing on God's charter flight to heaven. Religion and politics are both systems designed to allow cynical con artists to take advantage of people's misery and fear so they can accrue personal power and financial rewards.

^^This. The aim of religion is to tell you how to think. There is power in informing people's opinions. The other part is fear. Fear is a major element of both religion and politics. So the "end of..." rhetoric is going strong this election cycle. End of what you ask? Supposedly the end of anything you hold dear in order to scare you into doing something you otherwise wouldn't do.

Its religion/politics 101. And unfortunately it works like a charm.

Take a look at their "declaration":

So this is a stand by people against civil libertarian view which may come in and pollute the heart of people as the government changes laws to allow corruption to allow people to sin and then not to offend them of their pride by allowing other group to oppose them ............... See divorce came to people of Christ and now has limited victory of the devil in the church , and they know people could accept corrupt laws of the nation put on them and God warns that laws can change which accept lawlessness of morals

I had a rant of the anti god, anti atheist type.
But then the words of a great fisherman rang in my head.

"the length of the rant is proportional to the emotional need and the amount of time others spend reading it."

i am ok your intent. But god has nothing to do with it for me.

So how do we work together?
maybe we start around a wok?

There was a poster (name escapes me) who corrected me on lumping Republicans together. The question is - do they really believe that voting in the Republicans now would not open the door to those ban gays, allow Christian privilege, deny science, teach Genesis in school types? If they do, then they should seriously think of voting Democrat this time, powerfully discredit and then eliminate the Crazy element and reclaim the GOP for next time. If they don't, they have their head in the sand.
That might have been me.

And, no, I don't think it would open that door. While I find Pence's religious views deeply disturbing, I think Trump's lack of religiosity will balance it out, and I have faith that the rest of the Congress and Senate will prevent that crap from happening.

I think Hillary and Kaine will do far more damage to this country. Now, if it was a choice between them and a ticket consisting of Creflo Dollar and Kenneth Copeland...well, I *might* have a tougher decision...but, frankly, I'd even vote for the Pope before I'd vote for Hillary.

I think that the science-denying, literal genesis types are greatly outnumbered by more educated folks who have more common sense...I *hope* so, anyway.

I'm struggling to think of one word that has 20 meanings o.O
