As an atheist I do not support that government if they are denying detainees turbans or other religious requirements or access to their religious texts.

The ACLU routinely defends the rights of the religious, including Christians.

Of course, the usual suspects on these forums get their information re the ACLU from:
*the ACLU-hating guy at the pulpit who harangues them every Sunday
*various fundie blogs and other websites
*Sean Hannity
Somehow, these sources never mention the fact that the ACLU often defends religious folk, including Christians.
Sometimes, the ACLU even sues Muslims.

Of course, the ACLU intercedes disproportionately on behalf of non-Christians facing discrimination. But then, this is because in a society dominated by Christians, who hold most positions of power, the targets of discrimination are disproportionately non-Christian.
