Feel free, of course, to fill in a metaphor of your choice.
My father spent most of his career working on the space program. From the pre-Mercury days through Project Apollo, including working on the Lunar Module. So when I look up at the Moon I know things he touched and put his heart and soul into are up there...... and I always think of my dad. Even though he's gone I feel connected to him and I can feel his love for us when I look at the Moon. It's a wonderful feeling.

Sitting outside this evening, watching Mama Moon shine through scudding clouds like a beautiful woman draping herself in filmy lingerie. Three flying squirrels are busily gathering the seeds and nuts I've scattered around the deck. Their antics as they leap over each other and skitter hither and yon keep a near permanent smile on my face and I realize something:
The older I get the more I appreciate the simple things. And for this I am profoundly grateful because simple things abound.

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian family and friends.
Thanks. Most of us have a great deal to be thankful for. I sure as heck do.
Although I can't be with my sons this Thanksgiving and miss them, my SO and I enjoyed a couple of days with her boys. And an old friend of 45+ years came to visit yesterday and will stay for a couple.
BEST of all, my sister gave my SO her recipe for mushroom gravy and she made it as a surprise for me. Yum.
