Regardless whether the ufo phenom is 'real' or not, does it increasingly fit the 'criteria' for a new, modern-day Religion, perhaps even 'competing' now with the mainstream ones?

Wiki: A UFO religion is any religion in which the existence of extraterrestrial (ET) entities operating unidentified flying objects (UFOs) is an element of belief.

Notable UFO religions:
2.1 Aetherius Society
2.2 Church of the SubGenius
2.3 Heaven's Gate
2.4 Nation of Islam
2.5 Raëlism
2.6 Scientology
2.7 Unarius Academy of Science
2.8 Universal Industrial Church of the New World Comforter
2.9 Universe People

UFOs in other Non-UFO religions:
3.1 Ascended Master Teachings
3.2 Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
3.3 Share International and Maitreya
3.4 Tempelhofgesellschaft
3.5 Training centre for release of the Atma-energy

No, and reputable people don't use Puki-anything.

There's no god, no hierarchy, no scripture, no eschatology, no code, no nothing, and that's why it is not and never will be a religion.

And it is real. Other governments, like the Soviets/Russians have maintained so, and the US had finally admitted so.

If it were not real, then why would President Reagan ask President Gorbachev if the Soviets would help the US repel an alien invasion?

The question was in no way rhetorical, and it should be noted Reagan asked the question during the height of Black Triangle invasion which occurred beginning in the early 1980s and continued to the early 1990s.

What's more, if they were not real, then your government would have absolutely no need to type-classify ETVs based on their design and assumed method of propulsion, right?

But none of that matters, because the real issue is that x-tians are timid little people who view everything they don't understand as a threat and often falsely label it as a "religion."

I'm sure if you search the internet, you'll find an x-tian claiming the South Beach Diet is a religion.

For the record, Michael Shermer, featured on the video making the case that Ufology is 'Religion in Disguise', has also said, "I'm an atheist. I don't believe in God. And no, I am not 100% certain there is no God."

Is Ufology becoming a religion, or is religion the original conspiracy theory?

In knowing God through Jesus Christ through proof enabled, as God proclaims that ufos are not extraterrestrial but earth bound and are spirit devils and fallen angels that God rejected ....... So if religions and make up religions believe in these are like Star Trek beings from the universe, then they will be deceived

What is real?

I'm not sure whatever Ronald Reagan said or did is the kind of proof you seem to think it is...

None of it matters until it does matter, and so far anyway we've not had too many invasions of aliens or even verifiable visits to warrant much concern. Not for most of us anyway, but then again I've got my bunker built way underground with a year's supply of food and ammo.

There are folks who claim to have contact with the beings behind the UFO phenomena, if we can believe them, whether abductees or clairvoyant types etc. And they seem to espouse a lot of New Age ideology involving the notion of moral relativity where love is the only basis of morality and the notion that all is one etc.

If these beings were to reveal their true selves proclaiming these things as universal truths and whatever else, because of their supposed highly advanced level of civilization and technology, many would revere them as nigh gods and embrace whatever they say. Most traditional religions would collapse over night.

Perhaps that is the eventual plan. Didn't Paul in the Bible say there would be a great deception in the world that even many of the most astute would fall for? Not saying its necessarily true. Just food for thought...
