I no more want to dismantle religion than I want to rip the Santa belief from young children...What I want is for the religious to be satisfied with their own beliefs and stop imposing them on others...Religious dogma does not belong in our politics, schools or laws...It should not be used to quash peoples rights or freedoms...These things are the reason that many atheists are so outspoken.
Our time is valuable and is wasted in dismantling religion etc. As long as it does not impact me negatively, I am ok with it.
Religion is not going to go away by trying to dismantle it - all one has to do is encourage people to have more critical thought, less blind acceptance, etc. Plus the 100s of "true" religions that exist now will also make the concept of god look more comical believable as time goes on. In the internet age, better ideas spread faster than in old times.
I guess I'm only willing to whine about how much I hate religion on an internet forum when I'm too bored to do anything else.
And that about sums it up for the majority of us I think. I am always down for a good religious debate with a family member every now and again, but in real life, nobody gives much of a rats ***
This is more oof a hobby of mine, niot only to open myself up to some amazing peiople with even more amazing minds that I otherwise wouldn't have had the pleasure of interacting with, but also to see what ignorance and stupidity some people are spewing around the world these dasys, religious or non.
This is a question for Dawkinsian atheists who would like to "dismantle" religion once and for all.
How far are you willing to go to achieve that end?
Rational debate, education, and political activism to undo and prevent the unconstitutional establishment of religion.
I believe that any coercive measure taken to reduce the influence of religion will generally backfire. You cannot and should not force people to hold or abandon beliefs. Freedom of conscience is one of the closest equivalents to the sacred for me.
My hunch is that most Dawkinsian atheists hold a fairly similar viewpoint.

Before we answer maybe you could present some evidence that atheists are trying to dismantle religion.
