Why do self proclaimed atheist and agnostics post on the religious message boards? Are they searching? Ideas? Comments?

Because they want to make us Christians try to justify ourselves. In that they are looking for something to mis-quote us.

Great Daylights....have you not read any of the other MANY threads on this issue? Or do you just think if you ask this ofen enough you'll bet an answer you like better?

No, we aren't searching. You don't have anything we want. We are doing research on those that wish to marginalize us.

I think this has already been discussed to death... so here are a few related questions - Why do legal citizens post on the immigration board? Why do bad cooks post on the food board? Why do anti-government people post on the politics board? Why do non-doctors like to watch "ER"? Maybe because some people like to learn & discuss new things once in a while...

Saved from what? Saved from grace? Save from the knowledge that we have forgiveness for all of the wrong we have done in our lives? Saved from pure, unconditional love of our Father and creator?? Saved from heaven? Nah.. I do not want your idea of salvation. Thanks anyway

Actually, I haven't been a member for very long. And have been far too busy trying to keep up with the new threads to read the old ones. I thought it was a fair question. Didn't realize that it had been asked to death. Sorry.

If you don't want non-Christian ideas, this is probably not the place to be...which I'm quite sure you're already aware of. (ETA: Well...you say you're new, so I guess I shouldn't say I'm sure you were already aware. I would think just scrolling down would give an idea, but who knows and who am I to say--sometimes I just jump in with questions too.)

Therefore, the question becomes: Why do Christians who are firm in their beliefs come here?

"Oh, to share ideas with other Christians!" is usually the cry.

So, in order to share ideas with other Christians, rather than finding a Christian board, they flock here, to a place notorious for strife between the religious and the non-religous, the religious-but-not-Christian and the Christian, and even among Christian faiths?

"Well, some of us come here to spread Jesus' word," others murmur piously.

Oh really? Didn't Jesus say to tell people about him and then move on if they didn't believe?

No, I'm pretty sure Christians come here for the same reason any of us do: To cement their own beliefs through argument. Therefore, I have a sneaking suspicion that the great majority of Christians here don't trust their own faith quite as much as they'd have the rest of us believe.

And then, of course, there is the group (there's always this group--on any message board) that just likes to take out its aggressions on others, its frustrations with life, and its feeling of "smallness" in real life, and therefore pops on the net to taunt "I have the holy ghost--which means I'm better than you," "At least I'm not going to hell," and all the old standbys, either explicity stated, implicitly hinted at or very poorly veiled.

It does seem to give some people a feeling of "being better" for their keyboard bullying by trying to minimize atheists' and agnostics' reason for being here. It kinda just screams of insecurity to me. "I may not be much--but look--I'm better than..." (looks around the room frantically) "THAT guy!"

And, yes. As the others said, there have been tons of such posts on this board already asking atheists and agnostics why they don't come here. Scroll down.
