So that's what that means.

How do they find out if a person is living or dead though? I mean, it's not like you can log in and say "Sorry, guys, it looks like I'm dead now."

Do you have any substantiation whatsoever for this claim?

More likely such people are merely recounting things they have had described to or around them. But why resort to a mundane credible explanation when a fantastical unsubstantiated one makes you excited.
