Having spent time in this noble institution I can attest to the veracity of the allegation that "the U.S. Marine Corps is not as bloodthirsty as evangelical christians. (Yes, I am aware that I have only capitalized the one with an honorable history.)

The progressives are forcing their idea of “social justice” on others through the government.

Jesus never taught His followers to FORCE His beliefs on others. Also, Jesus never taught that the government should FORCE His beliefs on others. God gave us free will.

Then why is that a an almost universal attribute to the history of Christianity?

So Jesus never sent anybody out to spread the word, huh?

Philippians 2

10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Doesn't sound so optional to me.

In Jesus defense here, many of his followers and churches are pushy, but even as a believer, the idea of forcing someone to believe, or to give, was anathema.

Jesus was for a lot of social good and for helping your fellow man if you had the ability. None of his speeches condone using force in the process.

Popes, however....

It's a bit misleading to throw out there that Jim Wallis is an evangelical. It is much more accurate to describe him as a progressive.
