The internal correspondence from bishops in Wisconsin directly to Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the future pope, shows that while church officials tussled over whether the priest should be dismissed, their highest priority was protecting the church from scandal.

Well it isn't like he did anything serious, like actively support the ordination of women...

Members of CTA in Lincoln Nebraska were excommunicted with the approval of Rome by Bishop Bruskewitz for supporting womens ordination.

Father Bourgeois the Maryknoll priest has been in prison in third world countries for supporting the poor.
Every year he leads the protest at Fort Bennings Georgia against the 'School of The Americas' which has trained right wing death squads in third world countries that kill innocent poor people.

I can see why Rome needs to punish such dangerous people as Father Bourgeois

The hierarchy of the Catholic church is a swarm of fat old men dressed in gowns of red satin, wearing lace frou-frous and festooned in gold and jewels, who spend their public lives curtseying and bowing and kissing rings in an endless round of arcane pageantry.

Why would anyone think that these cosseted old jades in their imperial drag would give a damn about anything other than "The show must go on!!!"?

It's show biz, folks.

Snoggin' children is just a little something that happens between acts of the longest running drag show on earth.
