In his new book, "Kosher Jesus", Rabbi Shmuley Boteach asserts that because Christians no longer consider Jews to be their enemies, it is therefore time to recognize Jesus as a Torah-abiding Jewish patriot.

"Boteach, who recently attended a large Christian pro-Israel gathering, said he found it irritating that participants avoided any mention of Jesus for fear of offending Jews. "It's weird. How can you have a relationship with close friends and you can't talk about the most important thing in their life and the most famous Jews that ever lived?" Boteach asked. "My book says we Jews and Christians understand Jesus in very different ways, and that's OK," Boteach said. "But now, let's have a conversation."
From what I've read from Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, he seems like a quirkey, but good guy. He has some interesting viewpoints, right or wrong, that get people thinking in good ways.
Boteach is fine until people disagree with him. Then he gets loud, whiny, screechy and acts like a childish buffoon to get his way. In debates, he'll make reasonable arguments until he gets frustrated and then the lies start spewing forth. Personally, I can't stand the man.

Then he should join this discussion group. He would fit right in.

We non-O have been having interfaith dialogues with christians for years.
I dont think that to do so its necessary to accept the NT view of the historical Jesus. I dont think introducing a secular historical view (why would an educated jew hold anything else?) of the historical jesus, necessarily adds to a discussion of Christian RELIGION. Ergo, my view of Jesus is not really useful for interfaith dialog. More important are discussing broader views of G-d, of ethics, etc.
Its not clear to me that R' Boteach is actually interested in that kind of interfaith dialog, but more in having his political allies feel for more comfortable. I do get the impression R'Boteach is very interested in clout.

Aside from any quirkiness he might possess, I think the rabbi might be guilty of making just a tiny little generalization. Something tells me that more than a few Christians don't particularly think of Jews in an overly positive way.
Alrighty then! I thought Valley girls went out with the 80's tho' I was waiting for "like oh my gosh, that's like soooo grody to the max"
