For What????? To meet a couple who are behind in their Mort. payments??? Sorry I found his visit a waste of MONEY to US and all it did was block traffic..... and create chaos. ......btw. their home is worth 100k and they owe 160k....... I don't know all the facts why they are having issues paying their mortgage....... or why they are so behind and owe more then the house is worth ............ still no reason for this visit if any thing he could have skyped with them instead .

He has to act like he cares about anything beyond his re-election bid.. and making a visit to a random peasant makes other random peasants think they matter.

i can see if he was here to make a campaign visit , talk to US and give us some hope about NV future jobs etc.. and maybe make a few visits do a Q and A but this was ODD . He had no agenda to be here or around the west coast. mind you he just came from Clooneys mansion in Italy . his meeting with these home owners was maybe a few mins and he did nothing did not speak to the press NOTHING...... waste of more money.

A contrasting opinion would be that President Obama should talk to average Americans; hear what they are going through. And not necessarily make it about a press event but to come talk to someone going through the challenges of potentially losing their home and what they have been facing in a state with a down economy. He was already in the West including Seattle and Clooney's house in LA (Italy is not in the Western US).

Of course, many won't see it that way and that is too bad. Our family spent many years in Reno - what a mistake. Every once in a while I come read the threads here and it reminds me how this kind of thinking limits the potential of a city based on an easily duplicated industry with no real plans to grow beyond that. We still have friends and some family there and know if they left, their views would clear within months. I don't say this lightly; I know Reno very well.

Well, if Romney came to visit Reno, he'd go to the country club and ask the local millionaires what he can do to improve the tariff restrictions on caviar. And it's not just the Republicans who are ruining our country, Seacove, the Democrats continue to support Wall Street and have done nothing to rein in their powers, just look at what recently happened w JPMorgan. Support Libertarianism and the new candidate Johnson for Prez. Obama visited Reno bc we could be a pivotal swing state. Why would i vote Obama over Romney? Romney is NOT likely to reduce the deficit and MORE likely to inscrease military spending and go to war with Iran. Ready to send your kids to Iran to die for oil?

Biggest, I support Obama not least of which because the GOP has gone insane on social issues and Romney will completely yield to the Evangelicals. I think he will add Supreme Court justices that will make abortion illegal, will increase laws like Citizens United allowing corporation to buy elections and will deny rights to gays (he's already said he wants it to be a Constitutional Amendment). When the GOP politicians are writing scripts for doctors to read to patients, that is full on crazy. Johnson has no realistic way to win...

But that's not my point since this is in the Reno forum. I would like to see Reno do better because I have friends and family there. The idea that it is wrong for a president to go to a smaller city like Reno and talk first person to a citizen who could be losing their home is to not give credit to what that person might have to say. There should be more of that. Reno could really benefit from healthy constructive feedback instead of incorrectly saying things like Obama was visiting Clooney's house in Italy just to rile up posters.
