What sort of neighborhood is this? I can see it is not upscale, but is it high crime? Quiet?

I don't think it's high crime but there are definitely better places to live in Reno. I have a friend who bought a condo near there and she hated it, she said the place was overrun with little kids who ran all over the place with no apparent supervision, and the park near there was full of rowdy teenagers. She sold the condo and lost money on it but was glad to leave. The entire area is a little run down, maybe because so many of the condos in that part of town are renter occupied now. I think Alpine Vista HOA dues are over $200 a month which you should always factor into your monthly housing cost. And if you are thinking about buying there, talk to some of the residents about the HOA, there are some poorly run HOA's in Reno that will stick you with costly assessments because they didn't manage their money correctly.
