I've never heard of any problem with Reno water. The watershed and aquafer is fed from up-stream Tahoe and the snowpack. Nice and clean, and refreshed.

The bad water is over the hill to the east. Dayton, Stagecoach and that area. Leeching of poisons from the mining operations (arsenic and other heavy metals) in Virginia City and the natural alkali on the dry lake beds in the area.

Reno? Sweet Water!

We live in Sparks. We are not fans of the tap water here. It smells and tastes heavily of chlorine to us. We use a Berkey filter for all our drinking & cooking water.

We live off of the southern intersection of Vista & Los Altos. Nextdoor.com says it's the Desert Highlands neighborhood.

Cool username. It would make a good Ramone's song.

I am on a well and have a water softener and filter, with no issues. I got it from Kinetco in Sparks, but Costco sells a less expensive water softener system for those on municipal water.

OP, if you want to be extra cautious for your drinking water, install a reverse osmosis system (not expensive.) I love them (and much needed with Phoenix's tap water.)

I heard reverse osmosis uses a lot of extra water. Is that true?
