I've posted before, don't remember which thread, but wanted to share our good news with current and future residents alike. We moved out here from back east the beginning of June. Found a terrific realtor to work with, put an offer in on a house mid-July (short sale), offer was accepted quickly, and we've already closed and are officially 'on record' as the new owners. Our apartment lease is up the end of December, so that gives us 7 weeks to paint, carpet, and get moved over into the new place. Even though we missed the market on the super-cheap deals of a year ago or more, we got a lovely 3 br/2bt home with a great landscaped yard for a very good price. There are wonderful homes available here, still very affordable, and we felt good doing a short sale, so that the seller wasn't hurt so badly in the deal. As for Reno -- we love it here more now after 5 months than we did before. We're even looking forward to our first winter here. We are so glad we chose this area for our retirement, and look forward to enjoying this area for years to come. Special thanks to this forum. For the past year and a half we've been faithfully reading, making notes, and learning, knowing we loved the area, but still in the dark about so many details. Also, thanks to those of you who have been extra helpful, sending messages, tips, and extra info. You know who you are. To new Reno-ites, or folks considering this area, I recommend asking lots of questions here in the forum, and I highly recommend renting here first, to get an overview of the neighborhoods. We're still finding neighborhoods that are attractive and would have been great places to live, even after five months of wandering and learning the city (and Sparks) - but we're very happy to have chosen the area we did. So thank you, forum. Now, please tip your water bottle (I know you've got one nearby) in our direction (closed, of course) and let's all celebrate Reno today. *happy dancing*
