What is being said is that in many states, the LAW requires a tenant to cooperate with the landlord for showing. The tenant has no legal right to refuse if the law says they must. Not sure how many give the landlrod that right but it appears that most, even New York State (exception NYC, Albany, BUffalo and those with their own local landlord tenat law) require cooperation.
Now, although the tenat must cooperate, the law also sets requirments and limits.
For the landlord it ususally requires a specific or a reasonable notice.
It may require certain hours and days only.
They all say it can;t be to the point of harrasment
The landlord is ususally prohibuted from doing anything in the unit withou the tenat consent other than showing and generally accepted things like opening doors, drawing drapes to see windows, etc).
It often limits who can make notce.
For the tenat is requires that they do not do anything to interfere with the showing or otherwise disparage the unit. basically you can't outright make it a mess or do things that are plain old being a ar-se.
So in some places, it seems where you live now, you enjoy the ability to live and live until end of lease, but many other places outside local jurisdiction, often don;t have that same ability to tell the landlord to get lost, so as much as we like may want to tell the person to send the LL packing, that may be illegal.
