OMG, if this is the worse your landlord did, I'M SO JEALOUS!!!
The laws on this vary state to state...IN WA State, it is 48-hour notice required. HOWEVER, if they do not abide (*which was my experience with my last Landlord) you have to
1) First send them a letter, telling them date/time that they violated your "right to privacy"
2) If they violate it again, you can take them to court for damages, $100 per incident, with the maximum of $500.
