Really? Then I and many, many others must be the biggest losers in the world. I quite often pay my rent and utilities in cash when I have a surfeit of it and don't feel like going to the bank to deposit it.

Go down to the courthouse and get a restraining order...It does not have to be the opposite sex to do that. If this person has created even the slightest threat to life and limb...that is enough...sounds like a real goof...and if "she" stole from your home - it sounds like you are dealing with the white trash factor...When you speak to someone regarding a court order...be very serious - and say the catch phrase..."I fear for my life" - It works for woman getting rid of a man...I am sure it would work for you...Once the complaint have been filed they will come and take the guy away....Next time....never let strangers in your home...If you are going to reside with anyone...it should either be a relative or your mate...other than that- sharing with strangers is for college kids.

whew.. ok guys.. as I type this the squatter is leaving, with the assistance of his family I assume, one of whom said they were not leaving until he got his security deposit back.. (which doesn't begin to cover his unpaid rent) so thankfully the nightmare is over.. lesson learned.. no more roommates for me!

Did you have to give the deposit back? I would go after him for the lost rent and damages.
