Can I have someone who is not on the lease represent me during the final walk through if I give them a letter stating that I will agree on what decisions they make? The person would be my mother and she was present during the move in walk through 3 years ago. I'm having some trouble with the landlord and since I'm pregnant my husband wants me far away from the situation. He will be gone too so he is not an option.
In your final walk-through, does the LL give you a list of things to fix to get your full deposit back? If so, it would seem that the list could be given to anyone.
Why don't you write the LL an email saying that you are not waiving your right to a final walk-through, but you will not be able to be present at the final walk-through. Say your mother will be there as you would prefer the LL not enter without anyone present in the unit, and would he please give the list of items to be repaired to her, in writing, so there are no communication issues.
