Hi, I am renting an apartment for the summer, for summer training, and the company I work for are paying for the rent, of course they want the receipt. I payed the two months up front, and at the moment I was told I was going to be contacted by the administrator for the receipt. Four weeks passed and I didn´t hear anything from her so I went to the office to ask. There was different girl who told me the other one didn´t work there anymore, and that she couldn´t give me a receipt because she doesn´t have the payment information anymore (she sent it to a different office, she contacted them but they said they cannot send that information). She gave me a signed letter stating that I made the payment (and she said that is as far as I will get), but the company I work for said they really need a receipt as a letter is not an official document, what should I do?
You should talk to the company you work for then. Copies of the cashed check from your bank account with the letter should be sufficient IMO but I am also not the company you work for. Also what state are you renting in? There is likely a law for your state to help you demand a receipt for rent paid.
I sure hope you did not pay cash because that other person who isn't there any longer may have taken your cash with them and if so you might be SOL.
If you paid via check then print a copy of front and back from your online bank account when it clears. That will have who it is made out to and who cashed it on the back. That + the letter you got from the PM should be enough proof of payment.
