Since I'm still months from buying, anyone got any advice for this visit? Any questions to ask specifically now? Things to look for in this other unit?

It's highly unlikely you'll see that actual unit you'll be renting unless you're renting from a private landlord. Apt complexes have models set up and those are the units you'll see.

You can ask to see 'your' unit, but don't count on seeing it because they won't know exactly what unit you'll have until you sit down and fill out your app and hand over a holding deposit. \

When you find a complex you think you might want to apply to, take some time and visit the site. Talk to residents, walk the parking lot, go at different times of the day to gauge the noise factor and to get a 'feel' for the area.

Thanks, this area is in the same county I live, 15 minutes from my parents house, so I am already acquainted with the area.

I might go by at night sometime to get a feel for that, haven't been there past like 7pm.

Good to know it's hard to see the actual unit. I'll keep that in mind and ask anyway.

Best advice I can give you: Find a good attorney, get him on retainer.

Or do you just mean in general read any lease before signing it when it comes to that? YES
