I have lived in my apartment for 6 years. I recently got married. I knew my husband would not qualify financially as a leaseholder, and he didn't. However, they will not add him to the lease as an occupant either denying him an ID card and parking pass. Is this legal? He lives there with me and I qualify financially on my own.

Of course it is legal. He is not a tenant there, they don't want him there because he doesn't qualify and they won't put him on the lease. Why would they give him an id and parking pass if he is not a tenant?

You might think this through a little more carefully. If you were my tenant and you had someone living with you who did not pass my screening, I'd evict you. No adult lives in my rentals unless they are on the rental agreement

It's too late for you to think it through about marrying a guy with financial difficulties, and probably financial ineptitude. But at least you can keep an eviction off of your record.

I agree with oregonwoodsmoke. You are going to end up being evicted for having him living there if he does not qualify. I would start looking for another place to rent ASAP if I were you before you get evicted for having an unauthorized and unqualified guest. You don't want an eviction on your record. If you think you have problems now, wait until you try to rent another place with an eviction on your record. Next to impossible.
