I know this is not the worst problem in the world, but do you experience this -
The neighbors next door smell. I have noticed this during the summer in the hotter months. When I come home, they must not use deodorant because that's what the smell is like coming from their apartment (maybe the fan blows their scent thru the opening at the bottom of the door.
But the worst interesting part is - when they leave their apartment, the smell permeates the hallway for a while. I know this because I happened to exit my place when they did and it was the same smell.
Weird that it stays in the hallway, like cigar smoke does and does not dissipate right away.
A couple days later, 2 men got off the elevator, and they also had this smell, yuck. It is the smell of a person who has been working outdoors, and not taken a shower nor worn deodorant.
What is up with that? of course, I'm not going to mention anything, its just a curious thing that I am noticing. I have never been around body odor at stays midair for a long time!!!
Can of spray air fereshener. Give the hallway a spritz.
Really, there is nothing you can do about stinky neighbors. If you think the odor is coming under your door, put one of those draft blockers under the door.
I know it isn't fun to have stinky neighbors, but if that is your only complaint remind yourself it could be so much worse.
That has to be very disconcerting; especially to be stuck in an elevator with them. I've been stuck in an elevator with someone who wore strong perfume and ended up with a massive headache!
Febreeze is an excellent product; I highly recommend it. I once sprayed a sleeping guest's feet with Febreeze. He was couch-surfing for a week and didn't shower/bathe for those long seven days or so. The stench was enough to make a donkey want to gag.
The worst smell I had to endure (for fourteen years!) was our next door neighbour's cabbage cooking. He was a professional student for a good half of the fourteen years we shared an upper triplex with him, and he cooked cabbage every night, it seemed. Blech!

You might be allergic to the ingredients in some perfumes/colognes. I know that I am.
And why do some people have to pour so much of the stuff over themselves? A little dab'll do ya!
