Bankruptcy tend to improve a credit score. When people get to bankruptcy they have already taken the hits: judgements, write offs, delinquencies, etc. One can only file every seven years for Chapter 7 and the old debts are wiped off (except non dischargeables). So, a post Chapter 7 debtor is a pretty good prospect since he can't file twice.

If you file bankruptcy, the judgments will go away, too. You can file yourself. Get a book. Just follow the directions.

It's actually 8 years to file Chapter 7 again now. They keep changing the rules.

Well, the occupancy standard is 2 people per bedroom plus one, basically. So, they figure, the parent can sleep in the living room - or vice versa. It's legal per occupancy standards.

I rented a one bedroom apartment to a single woman and her kid. The baby daddy moved in and I looked the other way until they started misbehaving and had to be kicked out. But, what they did was they put their bed in the living room, and put the kid in the bedroom. Then, they could watch TV, use the kitchen, etc. That worked out fine.

The letter I got says they don't make any adjustments regarding who occupies what rooms. It's not the housing authority's job to make sure there is no abuse in a home, so I don't think that's weird. It's on the parents to separate the kids. There's no rule that says all kids must share a bedroom.

Exactly. The OP likes to think his situation is impossible, the world is against him, and there are no other options. Whining is an unfixable habit, I think. If things improved, what would he do?

Low wage + high rent + items that don't fall off a credit report until they are paid off = looks unfixable to me. Your Mileage May Vary.

Low wage because your credit prevents you from getting many jobs, and you’re deliberately trying to stay off your debtor’s radars.

High rent. Again, your choice.

We already covered the credit report.

All of these are your choice.

How are those eBay postings coming along?

My rent is below median for the area. I'm looking for a small work table for scanner and printer - the trick is finding one I can transport without a car - cost is not the issue this time. VERY small room here.

Why do you need a scanner and printer? Aren't you listing on eBay? A phone with a camera would do the trick.

Printers come with scanners these days, there are no separate scanners anymore. I sell books on occasion, and the photos come out better on the scanner than with my phone.

Actually, the best scanner one can buy is the Fujitsu Scan Snap ix500. Maybe the best piece of office equipment I have ever owned.
