I'm a student and this is the first time I'm renting- I'm studying abroad- so I'm not very familiar with the lease laws and that type of stuff. This is why I'm confused. I'm renting a room in an apartment on a month-to-month basis, I entered the 13th of February and therefore pay the 13th of every month. My contract ends on the 1st of July, which means I have to pay a full month's rent when I'm really only staying 2 weeks (from 13th of June to 1st of July).

So what can I do in this case, if anything? I haven't paid next month's rent as it's due on the 13th.
You're renting a room in an apartment month to month. I'm going to assume that someone else actually holds the lease and that the person you rent from is actually a tenant who's sub-leasing to you? Do you have a sub-lease agreement?

You took possession of the space on February 13th but, even though your rent is due and payable on the 13th of every month, the contract you entered into and signed ends on July 1 and thus your contract is viable and legally enforceable up to and including June 30th. If I were you I would tread carefully when signing a contract and read very carefully from the get go! Cheers!

Yes I kind of made the mistake of rushing into signing the lease without really thinking about it. No, the person I'm leasing from is not the tenant but the actual owner. I guess I will give him a call just to clarify everything.
