I turned 16 in 1981, and my 1st car was a sky blue 1973 Dodge Dart mopar power slant 6, it was a rust bucket with holes in the trunk and floorboards by my pedals, but no matter how I tried I couldn't kill the thing.

It ran and ran and ran.

then one day my muffler dropped and I rigged it up with hangers, then a few weeks later the whole bottom of the car dropped.

While being anything but a chick magnet, I was quite impressed with its engine.

I'd love to have a 73 Imperial Lebaron! I also like those late 70s New Yorkers, the backseat windows with the built in opera windows are nice.

Default thanks for the

brochure tennesee. looks like someone stretched a volare in all directions then called it a Chrysler with all the trimmings

do you think it weighed about the same as the discontinued mid sized Satellite'Fury/Coronet/Monaco chassis from the year before(the "little fuselage" look)? i'll bet it had more room but visually the lines are more complicated

Yeah, I would say it weighed about the same as those others...

Yeah they did seem to be built better, but Mopar was still sinking during this time. It was the arrival of the "K-car" in the early 80s that I think brought them out of the hole, then when they were the first to introduce the mini-van in 1984 (Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager), well, it was a new beginning for them.

UPDATE for those who care....
Willys was merged with Kaiser in 1953, and the Willy's name was dropped in 1963. They were all Kaiser-Jeep from 63-1970, when Kaiser- Jeep was bought by AMC. While Chrysler didn't actually purchase AMC until 1987, the demise of Jeep, (IMH, YTAO) began with the 1979 model year when the Jeep underwent a thorough 'Chryslerizing'. It was a sad time for Jeep Freaks like me, specifically into the full size Jeeps. The front differential changed sides, the TH400 was dropped for the Torqueflites, and the interior took on an decidely more car look than the previous 'all truck' feel.

All that said, and as sad as I was and as much as I loved the old FSJ, that new Wrangler Unlimited kicks ass.
