Remember that they said the V6 was the largest Chrysler engine that would fit? I wonder if they could drop the Pentastar engine and transmission in that car for much better performance than it had from factory?

They lied. They also had a concept of the Prowler, called the Howler and it had a V8

when I was a kid I made a model of the Plymouth Prowler with the engine out of a funny car in it, and surprising I didn't have to do a lot of cutting.

Yea, I don't think it was ever truly about performance. They just wanted to create a cool looking (yet tame) "hot rod".

It was simply a factory built street rod, and they were targeting the shop built crowd that bought fiberglass '34 Ford street rods with crate 350s and automatic transmissions. The Prowler, even in stock form, actually outperformed most shop built street rods, and came with a warranty. Tom Gale (head of Chrysler Design at the time) patterned it after his own personal '33 Ford street rod show car. it was never meant to be a sports car, but an exercise in team building and learning about small volume profitability. It also taught them a lot about aluminum chassis design and construction.

I been in love with this car since I was a little boy. I remember when i first saw it as a concept and fell in love. This car still breaks my neck when I rarely see it. Some day!

There's been plenty of tuners who put V8's in there, pretty sure Hennessey did one in addition to his supercharged and nitrous versions, somebody stuck an LS7 into one a long time ago, another company was making conversion kits, etc.

The car is long discontinued, so you're never going to see a factory V8 option, you're stuck with doing what other people have already done before.
