Love, friendship, joy in my work, healthy food, music, and sunshine on my body make me happy. How about you?
Yes the love of a spouse and the money to do things together and go place together without much worry about cost. Yes a trip or a home at the beach to soak up the sun. Vacation with friends or going out to a good dinner with them and eating healthy. Joy in my work? Nah I prefer being retired and having joy in my retirement. Oh yeah music and the ability to buy from the Apple store and have whatever gadgets you want. Satellite radio in both cars and if you want to go to a concert just go online and buy the tickets. Yes you can really do the things you love even more with money.

Quit the political correctness. Money does bring happiness and that's why many people work so hard to get more and more of it. While it may not guarantee happiness it does enable us to do and acquire things that make us happy. The level of needed for a level of happiness may differ with the individual but how many people couldn't use more money to generate more happiness? I know I am happy already but there are things that will make me happier and they cost money.
The original question posed was not whether money is good/evil or to dispute the fact that we need money to support us in our basic necessities, but what does it take to make us happy after that's taken care of--that's how I read the question.:
This question is posed more in the context of, 'What does it really require to bring lasting peace and joy to the human soul?' What do you think?
My answer is what it takes to bring lasting peace and joy to my human soul, and I suspect, for many of us...and I have the six things I listed in my life for very little outlay of $$$...

The OP wasn't interested in any of that. The only answer the OP was looking for was Jesus. This was nothing more than a veiled religious post that had no business being posted in this forum. I'm surprised more people didn't pick up on that.

That is a very interesting observation and reinforces the value of money as a key to happiness. Money must make you happier because much of church time is spent asking for it.
Even if you find Jesus the bills still have to be paid. As others already said or implied, money can't make you happy but lack of money can make you miserable.
I don't know for sure "how much is enough," but know I'm not there yet.
But I went ahead and retired anyway.
