I know there's a CD forum for entertainment, but it's kind of all over the place.

I'm wondering what seniors (let's say, the over-50 crowd) love as the greatest performances in any genre any style--music, dance, theater.

Do CD'ers think this subject is okay in the retirement forum?

Unless the original bands are still together, I like tribute bands but they normally play at night - too late for me.

Zepagain.com

Which Ones Pink?

The Waiting Room - Genesis/Peter Gabriel

Here's one you might like:

Smokin - Boston Tribute Band - Boston Music

Oh I have lots but throwing out 3

1.) Any of Luciano Pavorotti's performances most especially any of him singing Puccini arias.

2.) I really enjoyed a PBS great performance on John Denver's life and songs as well.

3. ) I am not sure if PBS's showings of Upstairs and Downstairs count as Great Performances but I loved that drama series and for me each episode was a great performance.

LOL. Really?

In any case, there are plenty of old, original bands still touring (well, some of the members are original anyway, lol).

This past weekend my wife and I went to see Atlanta Rhythm Section perform in the lounge at the Suncoast casino. Earlier this year we saw Little River Band perform at Green Valley Ranch. In August, Uriah Heep will be performing at Green Valley Ranch as well. (Side note: Uriah Heep was the first concert I ever went to when I was still in high school in 1974.)

The 70s are still alive and well in Las Vegas, lol.

I frankjly have no single great perfromance of all time. I thnik for just a example that the movie; To Kill a Mockingbird ;is as great as any I have seen in performances and story. But there are others.I have seen many rock concerts in my youth in 60's that were great. I think Upstairs /Downstairs was the best series I have seen on Television. In mujsic I like some rock;big band of 40's earl;y 50's and classical while doing things like driving. I love old corny scFi while care nothing for modern ScFi.I love anything that entertains without my having to think to hard and makes me laugh.Foul langauge just to get a reaction turns me off quickly.I have always loved to read english ;who done it mysteries and hate ones like Red Dragon/Silence of the lambs based on pure shock and gore.Besides that I mostly read bios of great people involved in great events written by the person and history opinion books by historians.

If I had to pick a live performance that I have seen, it would have to be that of Carlos Montoya, the classical guitarist, at NTSU (now UNT) back about 1970. I have never experienced anyone with such total mastery of a musical instrument. If I had not seen and heard it for myself, I would have thought there were two or three guitarists playing what he managed by himself. Absolutely stunnung.
