Are you afraid of becoming a geezer or a crone? If so, why? It certainly beats the alternative. To me, it's a status that after a certain age should be looked forward to.

I am not so sure it always necessarily beats the alternative. The alternative (death) is something that is going to happen to all of us anyway. I would prefer death to being incapacitated. Just this afternoon I visited an uncle who cannot cut his own meat on his plate, who cannot walk out to the car without assistance, and who cannot participate in a conversation beyond a few rudimentary sentences. That's what I fear, as it's literally a fate worse than death.

I second this....
But as far as the OP's original question.... moi a crone?? NEVER! I have too positive an outlook on life for the most part and am very patient!
That I'll forget where I stashed my "checkout" gear when I need it or be unable to use it. It will be interesting to see if my current thinking plays out.
A bad role of the "stroke dice" (and/or other bummers) can eliminate one's ability to be in command of their life. That to me is indeed a fearful situation.
As far as being a geezer, I plan to do so with style.
I intend to live long and continue to hone my curmudgeonly skills to a fine point.
HEY! Everyone needs/should have a goal in life, right?
