Why card someone when you can see he/her is old without question? I've been in alot of bars and never been checked for ID and I'm only 52 years old.

The only places I had to show ID was at Wal-mart, Kroger's and other big stores because of there computer system requires it.

Walmart's computer system requires an age on ammo as well but they don't ask for ID. The cashier just enters a number.

I was carded at the entrance to Oktoberfest a couple of weeks ago. I deliberately covered my date of birth with my thumb, and passed right through. No earthly idea why they go through this.

(I could have showed them my Medicare card as proof of age)

State guidelines is that bars, stores that sell alcohol are to card if they look younger than 27.

Biscuitpop and I are in our 60's. In October we were carded at the State Fair of Texas, at an Applebee's in Georgia, and at an independent restaurant in Alabama.
Near as we can tell, it's up to the establishment management. If I were running a place with 19-year-old servers, I'd probably have a "card everyone" policy too, rather than trust them to be able to tell the difference between a 30-year-old and an 80-year-old.
