Someone just asked me through a rep what I think "regular" old people look like. (For the proposed website I had suggested not using the silver-haired gleaming white teeth image of an older couple sitting on a swing in a park). Here's my image:
LOL my rant about marketing BS gave me an idea for the OP's website--how about a discussion of the phrase "The Pepsi Generation"? Sure, we've been branded as such, but how many people in our generation actually drink Pepsi? When I think about it, I don't know anyone who drinks Pepsi. Water? Definitely. Tea? Sure. Coffee? You betcha. Pepsi? Not so much.
I love how the posters here have shared their opinions and views of growing older. We "Medicare Babies" are sure a varied lot, aren't we? From "lonely and bitter" to adventurous and lively. Perhaps we ourselves shape our elderhood.
I wonder if you have a mantra or goal in mind for your elderhood?
I think mine would be (from the Dylan Thomas poem):
"Do not go gentle into that good night..."Rage, rage against the dying of the light."
By this, I do not mean being angry or bitter about aging, but pro-active in taking charge of my health, growth, adventures, and unquenchable curiosity...each day, I try to have a bit of newness in my life..it may be as simple as a trip to the library and engaging a stranger in conversation...or cycling along the waterfront and stopping to watch the pelicans skim the water, taking time to pet a dog...
I don't know...it helps to be such an optimist...been called a Pollyanna before..it's true. I wouldn't have it any other way. Have you smiled at a stranger today??
I see many of you on the same path. It's not about money, it's about personal growth and attitude, isn't it?

I love Bloomers--but the domain's already taken..I also checked Late Bloomers but it, too is taken (but could be purchased for $60,000!
Does anyone like Saucy Senior as a name? I do own that domain name already. But --lol--I'd be happy to sell it for $60,000--and I'll take you all out to dinner if it sells for that!!

I would follow a website that addressed the active, positive parts of the "second half of our journey".
I would personally avoid the word "old" in the title.
And choff5, any better hints at the website you mentioned?
Here's a thought--how about starting a blog here on city-data and giving your ideas a trial run. Then you can see what works well before starting your site. You might even find this is the perfect place to keep it going. One advantage to having a blog here on city-data is you can post links to it without worrying about promoting a competitor's site.
