My husband Howie passed away Jan. 19th. I called social security right away and gave the employee from their office all the information she needed and sent her the marraige cert. which she requested. She said I would get Howie's higher income instead of mine. I checked today and saw that it was still my amount. I haven't received my marriage cert. back yet. Does anyone know how long it will take to receive his amount and the $255 for the funeral expense? Thanks much.

If there is a local office you might go there to follow up.

It only took my SS office 2 weeks to get it all sorted and this was my first application. I would call or go in to the local office. If you sent the marriage cert., maybe it is lost in the office or mail and you could check to see if all is received.

I'm sorry for your loss Susie. I hope you get it worked out and if you feel like it I hope you come back and post on other, happier, topics.
