I'm a widow and ready to move to 55+ community but I'm torn between my final two.

One is in a location and community I like better, but the unit I'd be living in is apartment size and doesn't have a garage.

The other is a great duplex unit with garage and nice layout. The location is not as good and the community is smaller and has fewer activities.

I suppose I should consider my living unit first as I'll spend the most time there but I really enjoy the activities at the other unit.

What do you think?

If you feel you would spend most of your time home lone go with No 2~~personally I've spent most of my quality time at the community center and as I've aged I'm really glad for the smaller unit as I still love my activities and do not wish to spend my time alone. Mark me as glad for option #1.

The importance of a garage depends a great deal on the local weather and how much you need to get out.

My vote is for the place with more activities.

You may end up enjoying so many activities and be so busy you won't be spending as much time in your unit as you think you will.

A lot of people get along without a garage. You like #1 better so go for that. A garage isn't that important compared to the other features.

We travel a lot, rent apartments-condos-cottages-casitas everywhere we go, and in our experience, it's all about location, location, location.

Mom chose a unit with an outdoor patio on the first floor next to the main door. She has constant interaction with friends who come over to sit and talk or enjoy being with her. She loves it. It was a little more a month but her social needs are so much more important.

Choose location over size since you will just fill any size space.

Choose location. The activities will keep you busy and you will make more friends. The apartment is important, but IMHO, what the place offers is much more important. And good luck to you!
