I need help with the best strategy for retirement. My investment agent can help with things related to handling my investments and my pension but not with the best strategy on how to take our social security.

I have found calculators online but none of them account for the unique situations that people have such as myself. (example: I still work but my wife quit working several years ago, we both will collect pensions some day, we have IRA's)

I need to find either a calculator or a contact that has the ability to take into consideration ALL aspects of our situation and provide us with the answer needed to maximize our retirement income.

Calling Social Security is another option. People say (I can't vouch personally) that they're one of those "hey, great service from the government" places.
And consider using a financial planner - someone with a broader scope than an investment agent.

You need a CFP, not an investment agent (by which I assume you mean a broker-type chap?)

Before anyone can give you any type of advise.

How old are you ?

How old is your wife ?

And yes, the people at Social security are very helpful, and are very experienced on taking your situation and giving you your options. They will not tell you what's best "for you", but will lay it out for you and give you your options

The Wall Street Journal tested 5 calculators. 2 are free, 3 charge a fee. Read the article and see if there is one you like.

i recommend any of the number of web sites now that have real pro's on this stuff . yes they charge but it is well worth it.

considering for many this is one of the biggest financial decisions it is a small price to pay for correct advice. i happen to like social security solutions.

depending on the level of work up you want i believe they have 3 different prices.

What Is It?
