Most of the women I know are giving up the dye. After they do it they wonder why they waited so long.

I'm a woman who stopped dying about 14 years ago. Never got a compliment while it was bottle brown but get them all the time now that it's gray.

Until you turn around and people see how the face does not match the hair...

Well, if you think it's a shock for people when you START coloring your hair, it's a heckuva a lot worse when you stop after doing it for a decade or two and see what you've got left!

But how gray are you? Is it even all over? Bright white? Or yellowish? Streaky? I mean I've seen people with great white hair but that is a tiny minority who have that. And brown hair is not especially striking - no one's ever said anything about my hair brunette or otherwise.

I have a little gray, but my hair is for the most part still the same color it was 30 years ago. I'm 62 and some people probably think I dye it, but it's all natural. And I still have a full head of hair, so I can't complain.

How about skin treatments or plastic surgery? Just because we are retired or semi retired (me) does not mean we have to look old!

I lucked out....I've been blond all my life, blue-eyed, fair-skinned. I have some gray at the temples, but it isn't that noticeable unless up close, as it's so close to my natural color. It's no big deal to me, and I've never colored it.

One thing that drives me bats is the white hairs in my eyebrows. They're longer and more wirey than the others. Once in awhile I'll yank out an especially ornery one.

I think one of the problems with darker haired folks that hit the color bottle, is that they try to match the color that their hair USED to be, not realizing that their skin tone has also lightened. They should go with a color that's probably 2 shades lighter than original. It's the discrepancy between the old and new skin tone that gives it away, not so much the hair color.

Look at Donald Trump. He used to have brown hair. He's totally white now, of course, but his make-up people correctly advised him to go with a more blond shade. Same with Hillary...she was brown-haired when younger, but is too light-skinned to go that dark now. The blonde looks good on her.
