My husbands social security was reduced by $100 this month. He claims that it always happens in the beginning of the year, they take out more taxes. That sounds stupid. Did this happen to anyone else yet? I still work and am years away from SS. Just wondering?

Perhaps he is voluntarily having estimated federal tax and Part D premiums withheld in addition to Part B premiums. All of these could reduce his net amount depending on his income and/or his choices.
Every year in Dec, SSA sends him a letter detailing the next year's benefit amount. It details any income tax withholding, any Part B, Part C, and/or Part D deductions.

Is he adding a savings deduction to an account you don't know about?
Or possibly he is under FRA and worked over the income limit and this reflects the reduced benefit due to that. The plus would be higher increases later on due to more delayed credits.
