My husbands social security was reduced by $100 this month. He claims that it always happens in the beginning of the year, they take out more taxes. That sounds stupid. Did this happen to anyone else yet? I still work and am years away from SS. Just wondering?

No, you should get something from SSA if they do.

Perhaps he is voluntarily having estimated federal tax and Part D premiums withheld in addition to Part B premiums. All of these could reduce his net amount depending on his income and/or his choices.

They only take out taxes if you ask them too.

Look at your last years deposits and see if they were the same for all 12 months.

Every year in Dec, SSA sends him a letter detailing the next year's benefit amount. It details any income tax withholding, any Part B, Part C, and/or Part D deductions.

Also you can go to https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/ and check his benefit and payment information.

FWIW, my own benefit went down $25 due to an increase in my Part C Medicare Advantage plan premium.

I have tax withholding from mine. My monthly SS deposit stayed exactly the same.

Is he adding a savings deduction to an account you don't know about?

To add my wild guess to the others, it could be an increase in the amount deducted for court-ordered child support.

Or possibly he is under FRA and worked over the income limit and this reflects the reduced benefit due to that. The plus would be higher increases later on due to more delayed credits.
