Future Calif. retirees, are you nuts? I'd get out of this hell hole if I wasn't so old, have too much stuff, have friends, love my church, and lifelong established.
It's a one party state with no relief in sight, highest taxes and costs of every kind and constantly going up. Our property tax is better than many states but thats all.

In this So. Cal. hellhole we NEED no winter coats, boats, hardly umbrellas, no snow tires, no chains unless one goes to the local snows, maybe need chains but I wouldn't give up So. Cal for any other weather in the U.S. Why do people continue to want to move here?

Why do people continue to want to move away? I suspect that most people want to move to Southern California for the weather, and they want to move away because of the traffic and pollution.

Net population migration

But not all of California is like Los Angeles.

We did leave it - because we couldn't afford a house and didn't want more than an hour commute.

We go back because it's not theocratic, backward, discriminatory, in the dark ages - like where we are now.

I think a lot of people move to California for the higher paying jobs, but then move away once they saved up some money and don't want to deal with the high cost of living.

Don't tell everyone. Let them go and find out. I can't wait to move back.

San Francisco is one of the most expensive cities in California. Housing, food, entertainment, etc. are more expensive.
We live in the Inland Valley, about 400 miles southeast of San Francisco. Housing is still very expensive, but nothing like S.F.
You can get a small 3 BD 2 BA house for about $600K. No beach, and the summers are hot.

I've never heard the term "Inland Valley"...

Are you near Watsonville, Prunedale or Salinas?

We're looking in that area for land to build.
