Pension any good? My dad is the same story. He keeps talking about retiring this year but he never put any money away at all and only has his pension which will cut his income pretty much in half. Hes only 60 so hes still a few years from SS as well. I honestly don't know if its enough to make it work for him, and certainly not enough to work 20 years from now.

Also need:
Stock Options
Real Estate (e.g., rentals, that real estate venture that Mathjak invested in)
Social Security

But yes, most of my assets in retirement will come from my pension income. OK, maybe pensions and Social Security are not "assets" per the definition.

Why are assets from a spouse in the same category as invested assets? What happened to just plain working and building assets?

This survey does not seem to have been thought through. I will skip it and move on.
