Never tried Crocs. As for leggings, someone else suggested them. But, they remind me too much of tights-from my dancing days.

One thing I forgot to add in "my story," just about when menopause hit, I quit smoking. Double whammy.

I would like to lose anywhere from 10-25 lbs. I know that is a big margin but I would be happy if I could drop 10. Anything after that would just be gravy. But, I don't want to go below 25-I would be TOO thin.

Google weight and joint pain. Every 1 lb. of weight equals about 4 lbs. of pressure on the knees. Aging, aching joints don't need that. Beauty or attractiveness has nothing to do with it.

It seems that getting older and prevention of negatives associated with getting older can become almost a full time job. It's one of those things that expands and fills up time. It's a thing that can tend to expand to whatever time is available, and since retirement is full-time, facing the whole aging regime can easily expand.

It's a dilemma!

I swim six days a week, half mile each day.
Love it.
Get up, have coffee, go swim.
Starts the day right.
I'm in better shape now than I ever was before.
(never was athletic before)
I absolutely love doing what I didn't have time for when I was working. Isn't that part of what retirement is supposed to be about?
I just bought a red Speedo training suit with a matching red swim cap. They make me swim even faster.
:-)

Oh, sorry. This thread is about weight.
I have not lost any weight swimming, but haven't gained any either.

No, I refuse to let myself go. I saw my mother do that and I swore I would never do it. My mother didn't get fat but she let her self go in terms of hair, makeup, clothing.

Yes, I should exercise more and go back to the Y for swimming again. I weigh more than I used to, probably from not enough exercise. I definitely don't ever want to have a joint replacement and I've never been fat and I don't want to start being fat now.

I don't see very many overweight people around me so I would be self conscious if I were fat. Probably this part of the country is one of the least overweight parts of the country. People seem to be health conscious here.

Luckily, I'm somewhat tall at 5'6" and neither of my parents ever allowed themselves to become overweight; nor did any of my other relatives. So I've had good role models. Lately I've given up almost all sugar because at age 73, my blood sugar was a couple of points higher than it should be.

Besides, I like my clothes and don't want to have to go out and buy more to get a larger size. Cheapskate!

I alternate between giving up and dieting. I'm doing pretty good on the diet right now, have lost 10% of my body weight.

Haven't worn makeup in years, but I still try to dress nice.
