i work one day a week doing technical training for the newbees at my old company . once in a while i will do an extended project with them for a few weeks . i just enjoy doing it .
I draw SSDI and I work 24 hours a week, as a hotel front desk clerk.
I'm allowed to be a "Working person with disabilities ". I have physical and mental disabilities. Mental are controlled as long as I have my meds. My physical limitations are of more concerning as I get around with a cane.
24 hours is about all I can physically handle as some nights I end up running all over the hotel.
I'm currently seeking a job as a medical office secretary, a job more tame and allows me to sit more; which will also more match my previous experience as an Administraive Assistant, and will pay more in line with my average, instead of being minimum wage based. I used to volunteer in the hospital mefical records department at a different hospital also.
I may loose my SSDI, but will be working 40 sit down hours, and won't care at the better pay rate if i lose my SSDI. It Will make up my SSDI and extra income.
I work as after 13 years on SSDI, I realize that it doesn't buy much now, let alone in 10, 20 or 30 years while it is my permanent SS. So I want to boost it now while I have some working years left.
I have an intake phone interview on Monday for medical office secretary for the hospital. I've applied about a dozen times to all their medical secretary offerings. Finally been granted an intake interview. Wish me luck!

You work because you "enjoy doing it", not because you need to "supplement Social Security" as per the thread title question. This thread is not for people like you and me. (Yes, you are better off than I am, so please don't be insulted that I would place us in the same boat. What I mean is I can live very comfortably, for my own tastes, without giving a thought to ever having to work for the purpose of earning money.)
A lot of 65+ Real Estate agents still work. Being self employed, long timers have built their business where they can do 20-25 hours a week and still make good money. It's not usually a job you can start after age 65 as part time work.

SSI is more of a supplement to their income.
You have to be pretty down & out to be on SSI. You mean regular SS
I am retiring soon and no intentions of working. If my situation changes, say, my husband passes, I might get a PT job just to fill my time and be with people.
Otherwise, I'm not working again.
